About the PIA Lab

The Process Innovation & Automation Lab (PIA Lab) is the transfer and experimentation platform of the Chair of Information Systems and Transformation Management at the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE).
We bring research, teaching and practice together. Students, researchers and industry partners work side by side on digital solutions for modern business processes and try out new technologies in realistic scenarios.

Events and Workshops
The PIA Lab regularly hosts events on process innovation, automation and applied AI. In workshops and hands-on sessions, students, researchers and industry partners explore how technologies such as large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows and process automation are changing the way organizations work.
Our events are a place to build practical skills, exchange ideas with like-minded people and work with real-world tools and use cases.
