About Us

The Process Innovation & AutomationLab is the transfer and experimentation platform of the Chair of Information Systems and Transformation Management at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

We connect research, teaching, and practice. Students, researchers, and industry partners work together on digital solutions for modern business processes. The lab focuses on process innovation, automation,
ERP systems, AI-supported workflows, and the practical use of emerging technologies in organizations.

Our goal is to make digital transformation not only understandable, but hands-on and experienceable.

Our digital Tools

The PIA Lab provides selected digital systems that allow students to explore modern process automation in a practical and hands-on way.

You must be connected to the edu VPN or to the Uni Network to use them!

n8n – Workflow Automation

With n8n, students can visually create, test, and automate workflows. They learn how different systems can be connected via interfaces and how tasks can be automated.
